The Origin of Extensionist.nl

Extensionist.nl was born out of my deep love for beauty and creativity — a passion I’ve had since I was a little girl dreaming of becoming a makeup artist. Fifteen years ago, I took my first big step into that dream and entered the world of makeup, focusing on weddings and photoshoots. Every moment of that work brought me joy. As my reputation grew, I decided to open my own beauty salon. In the early years, I focused mainly on makeup and nails, creating stunning looks for my clients.

Introducing Hair Extensions

About ten years ago, after receiving countless compliments and requests from clients who admired my own hair, I decided to start offering hair extensions. I had taken care of my own extensions for years, and their success made it a natural decision to add this service to my salon. It allowed me to respond even better to my clients’ wishes and added a new dimension to my work.

Transition into Permanent Makeup

When it came to my eyebrows, I was always very particular — I wouldn’t let anyone touch them! That’s why I decided to learn the art of permanent makeup myself. I enrolled in a training program not only to perfect my own brows but also to truly understand the process from a client’s point of view. This allowed me to work with even more care and precision.

After completing a two-year masterclass at the renowned Mieke Petiet School in Amsterdam, I earned my diploma as a makeup artist. Those years were filled with creativity, growth, and inspiration. As my skills developed further, I naturally transitioned into permanent makeup, with a strong focus on eyebrow design — a perfect match with my background in makeup.

Today, my salon focuses on hair extensions and eyebrow tattoos. While my passion for makeup still lives on, my heart is truly in enhancing natural beauty. Hair extensions and permanent makeup — especially brows and lips — form the foundation of what I do.

How My Hair Extension Journey Began

Naturally, I used to have beautiful, thick hair. It was black, but as we all know: we always want what we don’t have. So, of course, I wanted to be blonde. I searched for someone who specialized in black hair and found an Iranian woman in The Hague. Unfortunately, it went terribly wrong. She burned my scalp, and I lost my beautiful long hair — permanently. Since then, my hair has never grown back the way it used to.

I missed my long hair. The shorter hair made me feel older, and I was unhappy. Every time I looked in the mirror, I saw a different woman than the one I wanted to be.

My Search for a Solution

This all happened 15 years ago. I began looking for alternatives: wigs, half-wigs, you name it. I tried every type of extension, but nothing ever felt quite right. There was always something off. Eventually, I thought:

“Okay, if no one can do it perfectly, I’ll learn it myself.”

And that’s exactly what I did. Today, I’m proud to say that I can make extensions myself. I’ve become an expert at blending colors so I don’t have to constantly dye my hair. The result? Hair that always looks amazing. I create handmade clip-in extensions that fit perfectly and look full and beautiful. I also specialize in professionally installing extensions for others.
